Description Speaker(s)

During the last century, Christians and congregations in North America were better known for stridently condemning culture—or unthinkingly consuming culture—than for being creators of culture.  How can churches foster a deeper sense of cultural responsibility and creativity?  How can we release our members to greater faithfulness in their cultural callings, while also developing a greater sense of cultural discernment and wisdom?  And how can we ourselves as pastors and leaders become models of cultural creativity?  Commissioning people for their vocations in the world can strengthen their commitment to the church, and this seminar will explore the ways churches can uniquely equip their members to be creative contributors both within and beyond the Christian community.

Sessions include:
  • Foundations of Culture Making
  • Rediscovering Culture in the Biblical Story
  • How Churches Can Help Christians Be Culture Makers
  • Culture Making and Cultural Power
